One Baby One Tree, in collaboration with ASEAN Green Power, commenced their first strategic planning activity last 05 March 2016 at the Foreign Service Institute, DFA Building, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.
The organizing team initiated the conduct of the planning session to introduce the members and volunteers from all over the country to the projects and activities lined up for the whole year with the theme, “Empowering Youth Through Environmental Stewardship”.
Ms. Jaydelyn Reise De Vera and Mr. Sandy Jan Labarosa, country representatives during the YSEALI Generation Earth Workshop, facilitated group discussions, brainstorming, and team building activities which encouraged camaraderie and active participation from the group. The team is composed of 27 young leaders and professionals all over the country divided into five (5) working groups, namely, logistics, sponsorships, promotions and design, merchandise, and registration.
One of the major projects of the team, titled “Zumbaligiran”, is set on 14 May 2016 which campaigns for a healthier lifestyle and a greener environment. All proceeds of the activity will be used for tree planting, putting up a school vertical garden (“School Trash Gardening”) and distribution of health kits to our kababayans in Brgy. Batongbuhay, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro, Philippines.
*One Baby One Tree and ASEAN Green Power were offshoots of the YSEALI Generation Earth Workshop last 22-25 April 2015 in Siem Reap, Cambodia which capacitated young Southeast Asian leaders with deeper understanding of environmental challenges facing the ASEAN region, and the mentorship to address these challenges.
