One Baby, One Tree, a YSEALI multinational team aimed to address deforestation problem and improve the child health situation in the Philippines and Cambodia, and ASEAN Green Power, a YSEALI multinational team with a vision of a greener and healthier Southeast Asia through proper waste management, collaborates to implement their projects in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro.
Jaydelyn Reise De Vera (One Baby One Tree Project Leader) and Sandy Jan Labarosa (ASEAN Green Power Project Leader) agreed last February 2016 to launch a joint-project in Occidental Mindoro where One Baby, One Tree has already established connections.
The two teams also agreed to organize a joint fundraising activity dubbed, “Zumbaligiran: Zumba Para sa Kapaligiran” in May. 100% of the proceeds will be allocated to the conduct of a tree planting activity, installation of a school vertical garden and distribution of health kits to our Kababayans in Barangay Batongbuhay, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro in June 7-8, 2016. The two-day program also includes workshops in tree planting and school trash gardening. The workshops will educate the students on the issues of deforestation and the hazardous effects of PET bottles in the environment.
